Cocoa butter cream, and lots of it. I have the same problem, I work with denim fabric which is VERY rough and dusty. Not only my cuticles but the skin on my hands tends to get so dry it will crack and bleed if I am not very careful. If possible, sample several different brands to find one which absorbs quickly and does not leave your skin greasy to the touch. Petroleum jelly will provide a temporary solution, but in the long run the petroleum will dry your skin out even more.
