Contact the issuing agency (City Police, Highway Patrol, County Sheriff's Office). You can find the number in the blue section of the phone book. If your are from another state, call directory assistance for the number. Most traffic tickets issued in NC are issued by the Highway Patrol (all the one's I have gotten there were) Give them your name and the date. They can look up the information your need and instruct you on what you need to do. If you can appear in court, you can probably get it dismissed or reduced, unless it was in Haywood County, they can be pretty brutal there.

Use the Internet, phone book or information to find the number for the municipal court for the city in which your ticket was written. If you can't seem to locate this number, you should be able to get it from another city department (police non-emergency, for example). Call the court and ask for instructions as to how to respond properly to your citation. Of course you could just head up to the municipal court in person.

Call them and find out when your court date is and show up and plead no contest. You don't need to bring the ticket with you to court, they will have a copy of it there already.
