They used to be commonplace in north central Indiana but I can't find them anymore. Tried google and ask with no results.

sorry to be so uninformative but in the late 70s I used to know a Sapp's delivery person that Stocked "strickly' glazed' boxed donuts in a storage unit in Nashville, Tn beside a 32 lane AMF bowling alley that I worked as a pinsetter part-time. and here's the thing... I 'never' got the fresh ones but the old ones (a week old) were 'melt in your mouth & heavenly! I KrispyKremes/Winchells/ are maybe 6.5 and 7 (out of 10) and that is their fresh ones! I can't be absolutely certain but I believe that they were from North East like Deleware or some such. one last thing the driver was very regimented and much inflexible in company policy of drivers and their product and as such it took me near a month or more to finally after helping him with loading/unloading (with he flat refused to allow at first and then only if I did it for free but eventually I was tossed the occasional box of weekolds. and another thing they were nearly as soft and not chewy at all after I had them a week or so
