How about the spiritual west? Or don't you believe there is such a thing? I don't think you can deny there is a materialistic (which is what I think you meant) east; look at Russia and China both, for their Communist materialism, past and present.

The west is not totally materialistic but materialism is bad. The east is not totally spiritual but spirituality is good.

As a materialist westerner I have to say I find the philosophies and beliefs of the east to be a lot more convincing and logically sound. I don't see how anything but good could come from adhering to Buddhist philosophy for example.

Jesus and materialism beats spirituality every time when the spirit of the east is satan. So the west is best.

Here's one way in which one of them is clearly better: meditation teaches one to calm one's self; to flow with the river of energy instead of fighting it. This creates peace. Materialism creates conflict; always wanting what we do not have and sometimes fighting with others to get it. One who sits under a Bodhi tree is unlikely to steal for want of something not possessed because one who meditates wants peace and happiness more than anything. These things cannot be stolen from another.

It is evident that materialism holds only temporary physical pleasures, whereas spirituality holds eternal rewards for all those who pursue such things. I think we are all in for a rude awakening about this in the near future.
