Once the body starts to self distruct and chronic pain is experienced daily, where do I find motivation. Those closest to me do not seem to understand that just standing up is difficult, I'm not trying to be a 'wimp'.

Try looking for a walking group in your age range. You'll find people who can relate to how you feel, don't move any faster or better than you, and can offer you the kind of motivation younger family members can't. What you shouldn't do is give in to the urge to not move. It will make you weaker. You may also find that movement improves your range of motion, strength, and endurance.

Believe me I know what you mean. I have chronic pain in my back and joints . I have difficulty walking and doing most tasks have become hard. You are not being a wimp, it is very difficult to deal with the pain all the time. I do not like to take meds so most of the time I just deal with it. There are meds that do really help with the pain and make it at least bearable. You are right most people who have not dealt with the pain or who are not in a similar situation, do not understand and are sometimes not to sympathetic to it. Life goes on and old age is the only way I want to die. I want to enjoy every moment I can and I hope you do to.

Younger people tend to downplay the pain of the elderly because they haven't experienced it and don't know what it's like. As a nurse, I have taken care of many elderly patients whose families denied them pain medication because they feel they'll get addicted or that they really shouldn't need it. I know it's hard when u don't have people around u that support u, but it's ur pain and no one but u can say how it feels. If u need to take pain pills to make it through the day, then do it. It isn't up to ur family to decide until u r unable to make decisions for ur self.

I don't believe there is a "best stage" of one's life to go, it leaves everyone else in a hole without you...but as for going, i thoroughly believe in life after death and that we find peace on the other side. Now is harder.
