Whoever said none is wrong... it is 500 Baht per person to enter and leave the country. Some countries include this in with the ticket so although you are paying it, you don't really see it per se. Children under two don't pay. We just came through there with our 3 and 5 year old and had to pay for both. When you are in the airport there is both a booth and machines lining the wall past the ticket counters right before you head into immigration. I would suggest using the machines if it's busy as they take all the paper bills and most people don't know what they're for.
First you push the number of people traveling (little pictures of 1 stick person, 2 stick people, etc...) than it will tell you the charge (500 Baht for one, 1,000 Baht for two, etc...) you put the money in face up and it will print you out the tax receipts to show to the officer at the entrance to immigration.
Don't forget to keep out 500 baht per person for this tax as they only take Baht cash and the ATM is a bit of a walk. My friend that flew out of the new airport said the charge and method were the same.

It will you cost 500 Baht for departure tax at the airport for each person. But if you are overland out of the country....there is no tax. Normally we call it as the "Airport Tax". Have a safe fly......
