How do you disipline your kids?

i was consistant with my children ...they knew that when i said no it meant no ..when i said yes i would always do it ..and if i said i'll think about it ..if they nagged me or tried to persuade me i would automatically say no ...so they learned not to .... but most of all when you say something then if its not done then there is a concequence ...be it 5 mins sitting in an area designated the naughty area ..or the loss of a certain privilideges .... the most important thing is consistancy ...you have to learn not to give in ...as children know to keep bombarding you ..and eventually you will give in just for the sake of peace ...so its no trouble to them .....so thats the secret ..show them you mean what you say ...

It depends on their age, and there personalities..I have 12 yo boy very sensitive ..i punish him by taking things away of importance like x-box,TV,phone,PC...and to earn them back he must be able tell me what he did and what he could do differently and he picks up extra chores for the time period he lost items some times its 1 day sometime 2-7 days consistency and not giving in works with him I have a 9 yo daughter very stubborn and nothing bothers her taking stuff, timeout,grounding she doesn't care..so I make her write sentences for me ..foe example this morning she took the remote from her sister (age 5) She had to write 50 times what she would do next time..my 5 year old (spoiled bad) whiny..she gets put in a time out and every time she gets up time starts over consistency is the real answer

Consequential actions for bad behavior----communications with the child address the unacceptable behavior....NO hitting, spanking etc!

Priviledges taken----No phone use----NO TV----No social activities---No friends over----

consequences are well known so there is no surprizes. Boundaries and family rule guidelines are SET in stone and consistantacy is the key.. Let the child take the rope and run with it....when the child slips and falls...you reel the reins of the rope and in and tie that rope to the house!!

You didnt say how old they are. There are ways to discipline children without smacking them. Tell them that if they are naughty you will restrict the things they get, ie. stop them watching tv, or stop their pocket money. A lot depends on what they have done wrong. It would help if you were more specific.

practice wht u want ur children to practice.
reinforce them when they do things u want them to do.
take away the reinforcment if he does thing u dont want him to do
for eg. if u want them to pick up toys, tell them if u pick them up u'll get to take the doggy out for a walk if u dont walk cancel.
never break ur promise with ur child
never be harsh on them, be firm ie. dont laugh as soon as u shout them for something wrong they did.

MINE ARE PRETTY MUCH GROWN, 16,19,20,29!! BUT........I DID USE TIME OUT, IF DONE RIGHT AND CONSISTANTLY IT DOES WORK!! I DID SPANK, IF IT WAS WARRENTED!! IF WE WERE OUT IN PUBLIC, AND ONE DECIDED TO ACT UP, I'D SIMPLY SAY,"DO YOU WANT TO GO TO THE LADIES ROOM??" THAT MENT A SWAT ON THE BUTT!! I'D TIME THEM OUT IN PUBLIC, YUP IN FRONT OF GOD AND EVERYONE!! DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT TO OFTEN, THEY'D BE SO EMBARRASSED!! IVE ONLY ONE PROBLEM NOW.....MY 20 &29 YO SONS KEEP BEGGING ME TO TAKE THEM INTO THE LADIES ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!
