What is the significance of the different colors that the memebers of the clergy wear? for performing religious rituals - such as funeral masses (black/white), weddings (white/rose/gold), baptisms, etc.
Green - what is that 'for' and why?

Wikipedia has an excellent article on the subject, covering the variations of most Christian denominations that use liturgical colors.

In recent years, even some evangelical groups that formerly never paid attention to the colors have begun to, if only as a decorative measure.

BTW, today, Sunday 15 October, is green in the Catholic system.

Nonsense. There are just FOUR "liturgical" colors: Green, Red, White and Purple. They are worn according to the nature of the DAY: Lent & Advent, purple, "Ordinary" time: Green, Martyrs: Red, Feasts: White.

The rest, like light blue (virgin mary), rose and stuff are kinda optional, and everyone does as they please there. Gold is actually a variety of "white" and is used for really big feasts and solemnities.

I'm not catholic, btw.
