Check the region code of your player in comparison to your DVDs
If you are using windows media player there is an option to ignor region codes of DVDs which will give you full viewing capabilities.

It could be caused by a few different problems
1. have you got sotware to play your dvd installed?
Something like Power dvd get it from

2. It could be your driver for the dvd player
3. It could be the dvd region is different from the one on your
dvd player Region 1 (USA) Will not play on a region 2 player unless you can change the regions or use software like
region free+css

or it could be that your dvd player will onlly play + or -
