It's Sunday morning, the First day of the Week. You should be going to Church to worship, learn more of Gods word, and to recieve the Lords Supper in remebrance of Jesus. If you're not going, why? What in this life is more important than salvation, and continuing your walk with the lord? This is a serious question from a fellow Christian just trying to get an idea of what other Christians are thinking in regards to the reasoning for not attending...

A good scope of answers. I actually was getting ready to go worship. I went with my girlfriend and her mother. Her mother has been attending another congregation for over 30 years and has not been happy with the direction the elders have decided to take. She is actually an elders wife in the Church of Christ. I'm not high and mighty, I am meek and humble, just wanted to get other peoples perspectives on what would cause them to not go, other than being an Atheist. Thanks everyone and God bless...

I am attending church. Class starts in an hour, and then worship services start in 2 hours. it takes me only about 20 minutes to get ready! i awake early so i have a lot of time to , drink my coffee, i also like to watch ED YOUNG before i get ready! he an awesome teacher of the word!
I attend every week, so that i may set aside a day to remember the Lord,( i remember Him every day though), also we are to take the Lords supper every first day of the week. Acts 20:7 Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.

I will be going. Yesterday I didn't have time to really do my Bible study or read the Bible, and when I did, I was too tired. But today I feel fine! Advil made my headache go away, and coffee is God's second greatest gift to mankind. :o) I'm looking forward to bringing my daughters to church and worshipping. But you know, it is impossible for me to set aside the entire Sabbath and do nothing. I have 2 small girls (I know, many mothers take care of more than that, but mine keep me busy enough!) and when you have kids, you can't rest! I don't understand how I'm supposed to be able to do nothing from sun-up to sun-down. I have to make food, clean messy faces, and change diapers. Even if I ignore the mess that accumulates in my house during the course of a single day, I still have childcare and food to make. To me, that counts as work, because I'm a stay-at-home-mom. That's all I do, and it sure isn't fun for me. So I hope that God understands that I simply can't do what He told me to do. Not until my kids are older, at least. What do you think?

Not everyon lives in your time zone or goes to church at 6 AM. The bible says "forsake not the gathering of the saints" it doesn't mention Sunday or church. If you do attend church on Sunday, you have probably come to the conclusion that what goes on there is pretty far from what was meant by "forsake not..." Not that I don't go but that's between me and God. Remove the plank from your own eye before trying to remove the toothpick from others.

Have you even read the bible? It doesn't say you have to go to church on the holy day it says: Exodus 20:9 6 days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10:But in the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maid servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within the gates 11: For in 6 days the LORD made heaven & earth, the sea,and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.
That does NOT mention church at all. Just to keep it HOLY, what clergy don't seem to understand is GOD IS EVERYWHERE ~ in the sea, in our homes, outside, under rocks, in the heavens. EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME< it is all a house God. Church is not the way to God, faith and love is. And I don't need any religion to tell me that, God does.

I work in the mental helath field. It is the mission god gave me. He planted me here. I manage a group home. I choose to work on sunday where my less mature(in their christian walk) staff can attend church and grow. I go on Sunday night and mid week. I learned a long time ago how to listen to good teaching on the radio and TV and fellowship in the world and i can praise and worship God where I sit right now.

When I was a god-fearing Christian, I stopped going because I saw it as a complete waste of time. Stand up, sing, sit down, bow my head, say a prayer, stand up, sing again, sit down, put 10% in the plate and pass it on...all those Sundays, yet I never once saw proof of gods existence. After I missed a couple of Sundays, I realized that it actually made my life better by not going. I wasn't as depressed anymore.

I'm leaving for church in a few moments. You're right. There's nothing more important than worshiping our Lord. Christ came to die and redeem us, so we can have everlasting life. Unfortunately, there are too many here who don't want to bend a knee to the Lord, but there will be a day when they will.

I am thinking that Jesus told us that the kingdom of the father was in each and every one of us.
This means that He is not to be found on a far off cloud called heaven or in a building called a church.
He can only be found where Jesus predicted he would be.
For this reason we should avoid these places where people pretend God is and turn within to find Him exactly where Jesus predicted he could be found.
Unless of course you feel that brother Jesus was wrong about this.

I'm going to church for the first time in weeks. I haven't been because my husband doesn't really like MY church, and he didn't want to go with me. There's no one our age at my church, and I'm just really sick of everything, I need something new. Church is not a one-size fits all thing. I'm going to a new church today, and my husband is watching our sick daughter for me. I don't know if he'll ever join me here, but I had to find something different for me.

To Regina P
You can't worship at home alone and remain strong. You can study alone. But you meet with other Chirstians to be encouraged and strengthened.
