I certainly hope not. I would not support any form of an amnesty. I would agitate against it until it was changed, I dont believe that I am alone in this belief.

Yes, the present system is outdated and useless for North America, and its cheaper to restrict immigration from overseas than with a poor 3rd world neighbour to the South.
This a rough idea what is going to occur Good Neighbor SAFE Visas and Ellis Island Centers
* Citizens of NAFTA and CAFTA-DR nations who wish to come to America to work will be able to register at Ellis Island Centers opened in their native country and apply for a new, temporary worker visa called a Good Neighbor SAFE (Secure Authorized Foreign Employee) Visa. The Ellis Island Centers will be branches of U.S.-based employment placement agencies. The centers will maintain a database of jobs in the U.S. that have been offered to American workers but remain unfilled, and will match visa applicants with available jobs
* Good Neighbor SAFE Visa cardholders will not be eligible for social services. The holder will be able to receive the employee portion of Social Security withholding in a lump sum when he or she leaves the program. The employer's share of Social Security withholding remains in the system. Withholding for Medicare will be used to reimburse hospitals for uncompensated medical care.
This visa will be a good start to fix immigration problems, and we should not be sucking skilled labor out of India or China to America because those countries need there skilled workers.
This provides a orderly and common sense approach to immigration, and it means they have to stay 17 years working to acutally become an American Citizen. I think this idea will pass the house after 2006 elections because the republicans have alienated there base, and general public not opposed to immigration, so much just under the table immigration that really sucks up soical services because people cant be kept track of. The SAFE visa is a good start to reform the immigration system
We call it a “Good Neighbor” SAFE visa because the program would be limited to countries that currently enjoy a positive trade relationship with the United States in our hemisphere. Only residents of NAFTA and CAFTA-DR countries will be eligible to participate in this program.

Bush is a joke forget this administration you need to wait until we get a better one. But reality is if they send everyone home they will destroy the economy. I think that this issue will be swept under the rug until the illegal imigrants american born children reach 30 and can argue about it.

I hope he focuses on what he'll do to keep Americans away from radioactivity by a North Korean attack first, and then worry about petty immigrants...
