When the urine stain is fresh you should blot up the excess with a paper towel, then apply a solution of 50/50 white vinegar and water and blot up the excess, then apply a product called OUT it can be purchased in the pet section at Walmart and saturate the area with the OUT and leave it dry on its own. If you have alot of areas that are stained I would to the vinegar and water treatment first then shampoo the carpet well and just set a glass or something where the originnal stain were and after the carpet dries treat those areas with the OUT. Short of professional carpet cleaning that is about all you can do, however the professionals have products that they use on pet stains that will eliminate the odor as well.

Only if the urine is fresh. If treated at once. If it has had time to soak into the backing of the carpet and/or the pad, topical treatments will not touch those areas. Nylon fibers absorb 1% of their weight in moisture. Polypropylene does not.

As to the stain, again, if it is old and nylon, the colors may have been destroyed by the acidity in urine. Bear in mind that most nylon is dyed like a radish, dyed after it is extruded.

Polypropylene is dyed while in a solution state, because it cannot be dyed after extrusion. Like a carrot, the color is completely through the fiber.

This is more info than you need, but it gives you an idea of how nylon dyes can be destroyed.

Nature's miracle is an enzyme cleaner specifically made for dog and cat urine odors. I also use a second product called Trail with equally good results. We have several cats, and one took to spraying in my car. I tried vinegar, febreze, all kinds of cleaners, soaps, baking soda, and every other perfume or deodorizer I could find. The Nature's Miracle finally worked and I can park the car in the sun and not smell cat pee. Truthfully, cat urine is awful stuff to remove. If it is in the foam or pad there is a good chance it will never come out completely, but you should be able to get enough out that it won't bother you.
