im a girl traveler, is it safe to share a dorm with other girls? any girls who have tried this?

Khao San side tends to be over-rated. I will recommend Suk 11, hostel on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Cost about 400baht for a room, or less for a dorm or shared room. You can email them at www.suk11.com for booking. Qute reasonable and will be quieter than in Khao San. Plus you will be on Sukhumvit Road, where the main tourist track is.
You can inquire your requirement to them. And simple breakfast is on the house each day.

I can give you a name of the hotel with extra condition that the hotel is vert crowded, noisy and lousy. I don't recommend you to stay in Khao San Road anyway. It is just too much ...

you know - it may not be the responsibility of the hostel to know the temperment or morals of the other guests.. it might just depend on who is there at the same time you are.. use appropriate care and good judgment and you should be fine - keep your passport and money with you at all times..
