Yes, if necessary

Yes, as a former fire dept driver I did that on a few occasions. Unfortunately, it is also very dangerous; in my community 2 cops collided head on during a chase of some car thief and both died because the one going the wrong way failed to communicate what he was doing.
Anytime you see any emergency vehicle with siren and or lights flashing, please pull to the side. I continually see people driving right on down the road, blocking the vehicles. The real problem is one that is not understood--the driver of the emergency vehicle is hyped up responding to an emergency, or on the way to the hospital; he or she is driving with a sense of urgency and can make mistakes just like anyone else, and with larger, faster vehicles often built like tanks, they are really dangerous. Best to just get out of the way and stop.
Seems like our highway systems have turned into road races!

Yes they can provided they are on an emergency call with all visual and audio warnings on, people must give way by law. They can also cross a red light with extreme caution. In either case if an accident happens the emergency vehicle and driver will be at fault. Did it many times never had an accident!

Actually no!

Drivers of emergency vehicles are bound by the same laws as anyone else, and it is actually illegal for them to jump lights or drive on kerbs etc.

However, nothing is said if this is done with due care, but in the event of an accident or injury, if it can be proven that the emergency service driver was at fault, then he/she will become liable.

Yes if its crucial to the job they need to do - paramedics will do it if it cuts a few minutes frm a journey and could save a life, police will do it if it means catching a criminal they would otherwise miss and fire service will do it to save precious minutes. These are experiences drivers who know what they are doing so its not like billy boy racer doing it for a laugh.

Depends on the emergency, for house-breaking or grave robbery, shop-lifting etc then no, but if Aliens have landed then yes!!! I think if people are in real danger then they can.
