I think that it may have something to do with homophobia. Both men and girls have posted in other questions, that it looks gayish. Some people did, not all though.
I shave it all off and most girls like it. Some have told me that it looks weird, but once they get used to the looks, they like it and don't go back to hairy men. I know cause after a while, I let my hair grow back out and they ask me to shave. All of the sudden they think that it is cleaner and looks better.
I think that the problem is that we want to separate what's manly from what's feminine. So it takes some time for some women and men to over it and realize that it's not big deal. To understand that it's not going to turn him gay, bi or makes him feminine. I bet you that you can't look at guys walking down the street and tell which one is shave or not?
For those who don’t like men shaving their bodies…get used to it! The metrosexual male is here and he’s here to stay! More and more men are shaving their bodies and may be not all women like it, but more and more women are starting liking what they see. This is specially true of the younger female generations.

This may sound pretty straight foward but this is the major problem with women in America. They don't do things to their bodies that they want to do. If you're with a guy who won't make love to you because you're too hairy down there, then why the hell are you still with the loser? So what if he flosses and he doesn't like the feel of it. The bottom line is he should be happy and feel unworthy to make love to a woman so he'll do anything to make you happy, not ***** and whine about your pubic hair. Try to tell a girl to shave her genitals in Asia, you'll get a rude awakening men. I'm not saying all women won't but most of them. If you don't like their bodies they simply kick your a$$ to the curb.
Women do to your bodies what you want and if your man can't handle it then dump his sorry a$$. This is coming from a guy BTW so this isn't some feminazi agenda.
Since I don't shave I don't expect my girls to shave and if they ever ask my preference I say anything that makes you happy.
My 0.02 cents

I agree with mutual grooming. Also there are some women who don't shave down there (like myself) and get plenty of oral action down there. Just keep it low. I'm not saying it looks like i have buckwheat in a headlock down there.

I prefer to see a good beaver myself. Shaven looks like the girl is too young. IMHO, in the minority I'm sure!

Hit him where it will make the biggest impression. Tell him that removing the hair will make "it" look bigger. He will probably go for that.

Hey, it's a two-way street. If you're expected to trim, it's not unreasonable to ask him to do so, as well (that's the REAL compromise).
