Not long, but cook it in a traditional oven. The taste is so much better. Use King Edward potatoes scrub and prick put on baking tray and into oven gas mark 7 for and 1 hour 10 mins , test to see if cooked turn up oven to mark 9 for last five minutes of cooking time...lovely crisp skin. Cut open add butter and sprinkle with you favourite cheese. My mouth is watering.

A large one takes about 7-10 mins. It all depends on the size of the potatoe and your microwave. Take it out after 5 mins and test it, if it's not quite done try for a further 2 mins then test again, just keep doing that until it's soft inside. I cut a cross in the top of mine first and sprinke salt on it. Good luck

It depends on the size of the potato. A med well washed potato still in it's skin will take about 5 minutes. A large potato will take about 8 minutes.

You can considerably cut down the time by cutting the spud in half.
If this is unacceptable, make two cuts, like a cross, in the potato. It should take 5 or 6 or 7 minutes, depending on size.

depends on the size, but 2 minutes of full power and then turn over and 2minutes again. If it feel a little hard don't worry if you wrap it in foil for a couple more minutes it should be perfect. If you have monster potato it will take longer, just practise

To cook? Oooh. Bad idea. Not a great result.
Depend how big it is of course, and always remember to prick it lots with a fork.
Do it for a wee while in the micro then into the oven.
