See my previous answer. You still do have the real flu. Not just a very heavy cold. Stay in bed take paracetamol as prescribed on packet. Try to drink water and only eat if you really want to. As you feel better in days and not hours start eating with boiled egg. At that point recovery will be rapid. Still go easy as your body has had a lot to deal with.
Good luck.

Are these your only symptoms? How high is your temperature?
If you are as sure as you can be that its just the flu then take zinc, vitamin c, echinacea which should help alleviate and speed up the cold-type symptoms.
Take paracetamol/ ibuprofen or both for the aches and pains and fever. Drink plenty of water, get lots of rest.
You are right, if it is the flu you don't need a doctor but keep a close eye on your symptoms and get things chekced if you start to feel worse.
It's horrible to feel so lousy but I suppose its the season for it. Hope you get well soon.

Diarrhoea is a sypmtoms of swine fle. The US authorities say that two drugs commonly used to treat flu, Tamiflu and Relenza, seem to be effective at treating cases that have occurred there so far. However, the drugs must be administered at an early stage to be effective. Use of these drugs may also make it less likely that infected people will pass the virus on to others. Anyone with flu-like symptoms who might have been in contact with the swine virus - such as those living or travelling in the areas of Mexico that have been affected - should seek medical advice. But patients are being asked not to go into GP surgeries in order to minimise the risk of spreading the disease to others. Instead, they should stay at home and call their healthcare provider for advice

You don't say how long you've felt like this, or how suddenly it came on, how old you are, etc.
If it was sudden and in just the last day or two, it could be flu. If it is, you should be better as quickly, providing you keep warm and drink plenty of fluids.
Are you up to date with your Meningitis jab? If not, watch out for a rash, though not every case has a rash. This would be Urgent.
If it came on gradually over more than a day or two, then it is not flu.
If symptoms persist or worsen, you really should seek medical help. My GP always tells his patients, "Better too soon than too late."

My husband has the same thing. The only thing that has helped him is bed rest, lots of fluids and paracetamol for his temperature. He is feeling a bit better now but it is into its 2nd week - proper flu does last 10 days and doesnt have the sneezes etc. like the common cold. Stay in bed or at least at home to avoid spreading it to someone who may be vulnerable like the old or pregnant people. Hope you feel better soon and remember its a virus so no amount of antibiotics can cure it. x

Its all well and good not wanting to bother the doctor, but what if you are ill with something other than flu. Self diagnosis is tricky at best and downright dangerous at worst.
If it does not improve in a couple of days with rest, and paracetamol or ibuprofen, then go and see your doctor. If you were not worried you would not be asking here! So go and take up a few minutes of his time to put your mind at rest.

It sounds like the flu, take some over the counter meds and if it does not start feeling better, go to the doctor to rule out anything else. The only thing is the high fever, if it does not go down after meds and taking a cool , not cold bath or shower it would go to the doctor right away.

Coughing? runny nose? Sounds like the flu, but we are not doctors here. Take something for it. You can get some over the counter stuff for it. also a product called airborne helps it go away faster.
Take some tylenol, and something like theraflu. Drink lots of fluids..

If you havent got a cold as well then it may be something other than flu.
You obviously have some sort of infection that your body is fighting, if paracetemol is not bringing temp down then you will have to go to the docs.
