He ultimately used the Priesthood authority that He held but the ability for this to be effective was solely dependant on faith and the will of the Father. That is the reason in His hometown He could not do many mighty works there, because the people only saw Him as the carpenter's son and not the Holy Son of God. He was the Jehovah of the old testament, the creator of the world. That is the reason John records that all things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made. He was in the begining with God.
