I'm sorry, but a Chihuahua will not be healthy or happy as an outdoor dog..
They don't have enough hair to keep them warm, and they chill so very easily..
They are also frightened of being alone.
.They will bark constantly if left outside, so that neither of you would ever be happy, and your neighbors would be angry about the constant barking..
I really hope there is another kind of dog that you could like, as a Chihuahua just won't work for you until you can keep one indoors.
I used to breed Chihuahuas.

It really depends on the temperament of ALL the dogs involved.
It also depends ALOT on how the dogs are introduced. If the golden retrievers and the chihuahua are brought together in such a way that they all understand they belong together, they'll be okay. It would be best if the golden retrievers consider the chihuahua to "belong" and make it an erstwhile part of their pack. Otherwise, there's a possibility they'll harass it until all involved get worked up enough that your dog, especially if it has no means for escape, is quite likely to get hurt or killed.
In other words, you'll need your neighbor's willing cooperation to make it work.....

While Golden Retrievers are generally good-natured animals, they may attack just the same. They may, at the very least be curious of your dog and want to sniff it. But, ultimately, you are responsible for containing your dog and they are theirs.
Is your yard secure on all sides from all animals? If not, you cannot let your dog out in your yard without a leash. Even so, it is not a good idea to leave your dog out in the yard unsupervised without a doghouse, food & water, or a way to get in & out of your home. You run the risk of your dog escaping and being hit by a car or kidnapped, or attacked by other dogs not your neighbors, even if they are the friendliest dogs in the neighborhood. There are leash laws, in most every community, but many people ignore them anyway.
Before you adopt, be sure that you have the containment issue dealt with first. You'll avoid heartaches later on.

Chihuahua is really an indoor, lap dog. It will be quite cruel to keep outdoor one of the smallest dog. Golden retrievers are friendly dogs. In Australia they come as No1 pet for family with kids. They are known for their kind nature.

If the golden retrievers are not trained properly ,yes they could harm the Chihuahua. That is not all I would be worrying about hawk & owls are also what you should be aware of. Get your dog a house or cage if you are going to keep it outside. So it will be somewhat protected. Don't neglect it too much as they are house pets. Good luck.

Hello Heavy M
A Chihuahua is a house dog and should not be out doors as they are so small. Tell your neighbors you are getting 1 and ask them when your little dog is out if they would mind bringing there's in for a while

Why in God's name would you get a dog that small and then make it live outside? You need to do some research about what dog fits into an outdoor lifestyle...a Chihuahua definitely does not. They are way too small, not very furred (even the longhairs aren't really made for outside) and they are bred as lapdogs. Please rethink this!

I don't get why you would bother getting a dog if you're just going to leave it outside where it isn't really a part of the family. Especially such a small dog! In winter it will freeze to death out there & in summer it will bake. Dogs of all shapes & sizes can be nasty & start fights so I wouldn't take the risk if I were you. Please reconcider getting a dog, especially a tiny dog to be kept outside.

they won't purposely do it. but a chihuahua is an indoor dog(toy breed) if you can't keep it in your house then you should reconsider the type of dog that you want to keep.
keeping a pet is a heavy responsibility.
God bless,
