My cats, one in particular, likes to groom me from time to time. If I am laying down, she will come up and lick my eyebrows, or along my hair line on my forehead. She, along with the other cats, will sometimes lick my hands, in between my fingers as well. It doesn't hurt and I think it's cute. Just wondering if other cats do this and what do you think is the reason they do it?

Consider it a great honor! Cats are not normally "pack" animals, like dogs, but, as a former crazy cat lady who never had less than six until lately - having passed on - find that they show their affection toward you by licking, grooming your hair, and kneading - making butter on you. Enjoy!

Heh, yeah, other cats do that. ^_^ It's really cute, but can get to be annoying at times.
My cat always comes up when I'm laying on the couch or on my bed and licks my cheek, my arms, and around my hairline. It's obviously a sign of affection, but it may make them believe that they're the 'alpha' between you and them.
Like one of the other answerers said, don't let any of your cats lick your eyes. It may be an affect from them acting like kittens, thinking you're their mother. I guess it's like humans and sucking their thumbs.
But otherwise, yeah, other cats do 'groom' their owners and it's a really cute thing to see. ^-^...though cats also like to play, and even though it's adorable, the people usually end up with scratches all over their arms or feet. O.o; XD

They are adorable. Some of my cats have done this, too. The funny thing is when they're trying to clean each other's ears both at the same time. Many times the dominant cat is the licker and the lesser cat is the lickee. They're always fun to watch.

ONe of my male cats would lick my cheeks or eyebrows only when he knows that I have over-slept and he wants me to wake up already. As soon as I open my eyes, he stops. But this is not "grooming" me, I'm afraid. See, I am the ALPHA animal in the household and all the pets expect ME to groom them! Darn it!

Yes they do! I have a female dog about 6 months old that likes to groom me . I just leave her a lone and let her do her job! I have a dog who like to groom one of my cats that he grew up with. Then they put their heads together like they are hugging each other! Most animals show so much love!

Some of my house cats groom each other....it ain't a wild cat thing....and 1 of my cats licks me a lot, but I think that's because he is species-confused and he thinks he's a puppy.
I would beware of letting them around your eyes though.............some years ago I let one of my cats lick my eye-
lids and I ended up with a severe eye infection........not because my kitty was dirty or anything........but think what else they lick.....!!!!!

Yes, your cat obvousily loves you although you are NOT the alpha in that house. You cat is grooming you but it considers you in its litter and it is in charge. I hope for your sake that your cat is already well behaved or you could encounter problems in the future.

Yes, my cats do this sometimes, too. I think it's a "pack" thing, in the wild you will often see cats grooming each other. It means you've been accepted as their "pack member" - feel privileged! =)
