A man has a bucket of apples, he is on his way home, he sees a pretty girl on his way, so he gives her half of his apples, and half of an apple. So hes getting closer to home, and theres another pretty girl, so he gives her half of his remaining apples, and half of an apple. So hes on his block, and he sees one more pretty girl, gives her half of his remaining apples, and half of an apple. He is now home appleless. How many apples did he have to begin with? HINT:(It's a whole number) 1st to get it right gets best answer!

<>7. Working backward, he give the last girl half his apples + 1/2 apple and is appleless///in order to do this the last thing he gives is 1/2 apple, so half his apples would have been a half, 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 apple. Apply that same logic and you end up at 7 in the beginning...1/2 of 7 is 2 1/2 + 1/2 leaves 3, 1/2 of 3 is 1 1/2 + 1/2 = 1.

7 definitely

By the time he saw the last pretty girl, he must have had only one apple to be able to give her half of the whole, and half an apple and to become appleless.

When he saw the second pretty girl, he must have had 3 apples to be able to give half of all (one and half) and half an apple to be left with one apple

When he saw the first pretty girl, he must have had 7 apples to be able to give half his apples (3 and half) and half an apple to be left with 3 apples.
