Are the people nice? Is the winter really bad, or rather can I still make it to New York City by car in winter?

North Westchester County is nice. Not as crowded as the southern part. You could drive to the Hudson River to check the picturesque sites. Not to far from Manhattan, about one hour by train. As far as the winter, cold, snow but most years not that much snow compared to further upstate New York.

No, winter is not really bad. It's cold, but nice. The only problem driving in winter is when the roads are iced and frankly there are some days that you might need to take off or go in late, or use public transportation (if that's an option). But the benefits of living in a place like New York with the culture, activities, food, and attractions far outweigh the drawbacks. Welcome!
