Well of course your compulsions are getting stronger at first. You're trying to get rid of them so they're fighting back. It's OK just accept the fact that they're still there because the more you try to deny them the stronger they will try to take control of you. In fact you're fighting yourself and your own fears and that increases the compulsions. Try to stop fighting them and let the medicine kick in. You've probably had your compulsions for a long time, they're not going to disappear at once and that's OK. They will in time. Be sweet to yourself. I assume you already have a therapist? If not, find one to help you through the process. You are strong enough to overcome your compulsions, really. Good luck.

I had OCD bad up until I was about 14, and I still am dealing with it to this day on a lesser level . I have a Friend currently with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. We worked together on ways to lessen the side effects and I was extremely interested in his behaviors. I wouldn't advise drinking an overabundance of alcohol, my friend realized quickly that he was obsessive about everything that temporarily lessened the effects of OCD including alcohol. What medications are you on? Contact me- Cliffx71@yahoo.com

Self Control is very much important to get rid of it, u have to make up ur mind that u must stop it. only medicine wont work u need a stong will power to overcome it.
wht u can tell urself is........"that u r strong person, this habbit is disturding ur life n driving u crazy, u have strong will power n most importantly U CAN JUST DO IT. nothing is impossible for u. n yes u r confidant."

Medicine is just not enough, you need Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. You need to learn to deal with the symptoms, meds can only achieve so much. I suggest you have your doctor or psychiatrist refer you for CBT and in the meantime, I would recommend picking up the book, 'Brain Lock' by Jeffrey Shcwarz. This has really helped me.
Take care : )
