I did lots of wedding history research before I got married because his family was Catholic & I'm not.
I didn't want to get married in a church..well guess what..in the old days people got married outside of the church so all could witness the commitment.
I can't remember when 'white' became the norm for wedding dresses, but originally they were either blue, or white with blue trim.
I got married on the Great Barrier Reef, on an island, so had a dress made of shot silk that reflected the deep blues & greens of the reef and the sky. My bridesmaid wore a beautiful sky blue dress.
That all worked for me.
My niece wore a gorgeous cream dress & her bridesmaids wore deep burgundy dresses. They were stunning!
For you, I suggest you think about your wedding location & make your colours fit the environment; or just go with your favourite colours!
Ultimately you want to feel your best on the day!

Wear a traditional white dress. The colors can be any color you love, your favorite color, or your husband-to-be's favorite color. I would choose the colors that suit you the best. If you look good in blue, have your wedding in shades of blue, but if you look better in pinks, have your wedding colors in a shade of pink. Do what you want, but also keep in mind what colors look good around you, because this will be YOUR day. Example, if you have red hair, you might want to stay away from oranges and peaches. Blonds look great with blue, and brunettes look great with pinks. I would look at some bridal magazines for women who have your coloring and see what kind of props are used with the model's coloring. Congratulations!

if you are getting married in the fall; do a fall theme with rust, paprika, chocolate, orange or pumpkin, bronze and cinnimon as your colors to choose from any combination of these colors would look nice for a fall theme wedding. you would use these same colors for flowers choice just make sure they contrast with the b-maid dress. Spring wedding; I love peach and creme but any soft pastel color will look nice during the spring months such as lavendar and lilac, ice blue, soft pink. Bright colors are more appropiate for summer such as hot pink (luv hot pink and true pink together) purple and silver, turquiose, coral, teal, any loud color. hope this helps

I got married in May this year.....we had 'raspberry' bridesmaid dresses, which were really pretty.....the guys wore black tuxes with silver vests/ties....I never dreamed I would have that color, but when I went to a bridal show after I got engaged, I saw girls in it and thought 'wow!'....
