Mealy-mouthed soft-speak just isn't gonna help...Mexico needs to invest more in its' domestic infrastructure, and there needs to be better enforcement/deterrent in the United States to prevent illegal immigration. Maybe one good way to go forward would be to ask Mexico to just start reimbursing us for decades of foreign aid etc. Didya know we give em like 7 billion a year, no questions asked? LOL We're being played...I say finish the border fence.
Support the US Border Patrol!

The problem of illegal immigration into this country should be a shared responsibility between Mexico and the U.S. Lets hold Mexico accountable for the monies we give to Mexico.
One of the basic fears people within the U.S. have regarding immigration, legal or otherwise is the problem of health care and inoculations from within the country where the immigrants come from. We should begin holding the countries of Mexico, Honduras and every other country within South and Central America accountable for caring for its own citizens. Block grants and aid is just another way of allowing the U.S. to give huge amounts of money to the countries south of our border without any accountability.
We must hold every nation accountable for the inoculation of its citizens, including the very young and the elderly, so as when the immigrant comes to the U.S., there can be some degree of that immigrant being healthy.
We cannot have our citizens and children mix with other nations citizens who do not properly care for its citizens. Make it known and let the matter effect the tourist trade as well, that the people are not properly inoculated.
Its time to make Mexico and other nations south of the border fully accoiuntable for the monies we give them,... every single dollar!

Funny how almost every single person in this great country had ancestors that immigrated here. Now for some reason, it's NOT ok for Mexicans or whoever to come into this country to live the American dream?
I COMPLETELY agree that there are SOME immigrants that don't want to become American do not even attempt to learn the english language. I also agree that many if not most of the immigrants that come here to live the American dream and try their very hardest to learn english and someday become a citizen.
I believe immigration is a problem, but I also believe it would be hypocritical for anyone besides Native Americans to say "Mexicans should get out" or whatever.

Yes, I believe we are attracting more illegal immigrants because the discussions right now lead them to believe that there may be "amnesty" coming and so they are coming more and faster than ever to try to be in the country when this magic thing happens. Our government needs to act decisively and stop pussy-footing around on this issue immediately. Our government is playing games with the people, both citizens and the illegal immigrants. It is very cruel, really. They are trying to appear to be appeasing everyone, both big business and the regular citizens. Big business wants the illegals for the slave labor - government wants to give business the illegal immigrants for the slave labor because they want the financial support of big business. At the same time, government knows that the majority of the citizens want illegal immigrants deported and they want the borders closed to further illegal immigration, so government is now trying to appease the majority of the citizens with promises of the big fence (that may or may not ever appear) and also pretensions of stepping up border patrol and deportations. Meanwhile, so little ever happens to penalize the employers of illegals, other than the odd "hit" here and there, just enough to give the majority citizens the idea that something is being done so as to shut them up. Government is trying to stall to get past the elections and then even the ones who have paid "lip service" to being anti-illegal immigrant, will suddenly change their stance and appease the employers. I don't believe the fence will ever be built and I don't believe illegal immigration will ever be stopped or even stemmed.

Since Bush started discussing amnesty and a guest worker program, there has been a spike in crossings. People interviewed have been saying they 'came for the amnesty'. Now crossings are down everywhere but California, and I don't think it is an accident that the Governor here happens to have met with Fox and is a proponent of a guest worker program.
Talking about THAT action certainly seems to be 'attracting more'. It makes it very clear why controlling entry and tracking those here needs to occur before any discussion of anything else.

As we ponder this question more illegals are entering the country and applying for welfare. They are sending their kids to school that you pay for. They commit crimes that can not be tracked because they are not on file. They take your jobs away, whether you want them or not. They do not want to be Americans. They want you to be Mexican or wherever they come from!
