You cannot relinquish your rights voluntarily unless there is another party who will adopt the child and assume the parental role as the child's father.

If the child's mother is not married you can expect to remain the father of the child until she does marry. Until then, even if you choose not to actively participate in the child's life, you can be held responsible for child support and medical insurance.

I know this is not the answer you were hoping for. Sorry..sometimes the truth hurts!

hi
as far i can remember. When the mother registers the birth the father has to be present with I.D

if you are not wanting to be there i dont think she can name you on the birth certificate ( ring Birth Deaths and Marriages registrar in the local phone book)
however, this is not the end of it. If the mother declares you as the father at CSA and you deny paternity.. I think they can request a DNA test from you in the best interest of the child.
you might want to contact CSA for carification. The outcome of the test will determine if they are legally entitled to force you to pay. They act on behalf of the child and not the mother. If you are the father it may be best to enter a voluntary arangement with the mother and keep things amicable. Let her know that you do not want contact..why anyone would deny a child beats me.
you need to contact all relevant goverment departments. if te mother claims benefit neither you or her have a choice. you must co operate with the csa. not sure if you are usa or uk..i guess it is different in usa

Yes, but you can only give up your rights and not be liable for child support IF the mother agrees so if you think you can just decide that you don't want a kid or pay child support you are wrong.

Nope. It's screwey, because guys get the short end of the stick if both parents really want the father to give up his rights to the baby. You can still be held responsible for child support. Even back child support if she decides one day that she wants child support.

Not necessarily. The mother can fight you on this in court if she wants to. If the mother doesnt want you to give up your rights and wants you to pay child support then you could end up paying. If a judge decides that its in the best intrest of the child not to reliquish your rights then you will have to pay child support.

Yes but why would you want to ? its your child .. your next generation
Before you make this foolish move .. think about the child and do write down not only your medical history but as far as you can go on your family history .. just because you dont want him or her does not stop him from being a part of your family line .. which would include ..your skeltons ... and your medical problems ..

You can do this only if the mother agrees. If she is receiving public assistance the state has to agree and they never will. Remember you will be giving up ALL rights to the child by doing this.

Yes if you give up your rights then that means you are not responsible for the child. But in case I am wrong I would talk with a lawyer first.
