These are exactly the symptoms for gallbladder problems - they are agggravated by eating especially if he eats rough things like seeds or popcorn or lots of greasy foods. The pain is like a tunnel that goes right thru to your back. on the right side. He most likely has some stones but it could also be an infection which is not good or worse, cancer. In any case, he has no choice but surgery which luckily today is very minor. My daughter had hers done late friday night and was back to work Monday morning.

Don't say "My shoulder hurts and I think it's my gallbladder." Just say what you have just said here. I do suspect the shoulder and arm pain aren't directly related. I used to have some significant shoulder pain that would go down my arm and it was related to stress. The muscles tensing up and all that. It could be the stress you fell with the nausea and diarrhea is causing the muscles in your should and arm to tense up. You need to go to the doctor about your pains. It could be gallbladder problems but it could be many other things, too. The doctor would do a scan that would show if you have gall stones. But many have gall stones that don't cause any problems. Half of all women 40 and over have gallstones and most don't have pains associated with them. About 10 years ago, I was having some similar problems while going through marital problems. I told the doctor I thought it was stress because I have had similar problems with stress before. He said I was getting to the age where it might be gallstones so he wanted to test that. The test showed that I had gallstones but I had researched the subject and knew gallstones don't necessarily cause the symptoms. So I was shocked when the doctor said "You have gall stones. When do you want to schedule the operation." I insisted on a 2nd opinion but he would not refer me to another doctor. He acted like I needed the operation right away, but made me wait to get my insurance to change me to another doctor so I could get a 2nd opinion. The new doctor gave the the "purple pill" and that settled that. I haven't had problems since even though I am not on the medication anymore. So if a doctor insists on operating, I would suggest a 2nd opinion.

When does he get the attacks? If they occur after eating near the top of the stomach, then it points toward a gall bladder problem, especially after fatty meals. But abdominal pain could be anything.
There is a technique called "Murphy's Sign" which is pretty accurate at diagnosing gall stones. Have your fiancee exhale & then press lightly just underneath the ribs on the right side of his abdomen. Then tell him to inhale - if he has to stop inhaling due to the pain, that is a positive sign. You can give it a try, but should probably see the doc on Monday.
If he begins running a fever, take him to the ER immediately!

If he has " attacks" that is definetely something for a doctor to
take a real look at. But it could be just indegestion ( gas). I had
my gallbladder taken out. I was having pains on my upper right
side. It was excrutiating pain, where I would have to get on the
floor and hold myself. But, I never had any food reactions as
youv'e stated. I think it is gas pains, but don't take me up on it!!
Sometimes, I still get really bad GAS PAINS in my upper LEFT
side..their like "attacks" my sister said to take a few rolaids and
don't you know....it all goes away! And I thought it was serious...
but it was truly gas pains, it's weird. It can be the food he eats....
have him carry ANTI - ACID tablets, or liquid form. It helps with
heartburn and acid indigestion. It has worked for me, for years....
I couldn't believe that sharp pain, was only gas.!! LOL I'm not a
doctor, but this is what helped me. Good Luck.....

Yes it does sound like gallbladder. And one of these days, if he's not treated soon for this, he will end up on the floor in alot of pain and not able to get to a phone. Get help now and don't delay.

Yes sounds like it is. He should cut down on the ammount of oil he eats and try liquid diets when he has the pain along with jelly. This seems to help ease the pain. Stay on a light diet to ease the pain but definitely needs to visit his doctor for advice.

Could be. He should go to the Dr or the ER ASAP. He needs an ultrasound. If he goes to the ER maybe he'll get an ultrasound sooner. I would not put this off any longer.

yes, it sounds exactly like the gallbladder. i would have him see his doctor and then also run a check on the liver. those with gallstones/disease can actually have liver disease like hepatitis c.
i would seek out the doctor and go from there.
