No, but they have to respond to the criminals that DO purposely beat and kill cops. By the way, I work with Police Officers for a living, and no, they don't beat people and brag about it to their friends when they're alone.

Almost anytime an officer is involved with the death of another human being it is intentional. I say almost only because traffic fatalities involving police officers and other accidental means of death do occur. If an officer has to shoot someone though, it is intentional. They are trained to shoot to kill when it comes to protecting their lives and the lives of John Q Public. You do not shoot to mame or to slow an attack, (an injured man can still fight, it has been proven too many times to count) you shoot to end the attack. It is not a matter of police brutality, it is a matter of that officer going home to his family and living another day. You are absolutely correct about average citizens wondering about whether or not it is maliciously intentional, but that is because they are just that, everyday citizens. They do not understand that police trainging says you kill the person posing an iminent health/life risk.

I do not believe that the majority of police officers beat or kill people on purpose. There are bad apples in every bunch, and the law enforcement being extremely high stress level job some officers may snap. Some officers may become mentally unstable. But that is a worse case scenario... Most officers respect and value the police code of ethics.

When the person is resisting arrest or trying to harm another person or putting someing in danger, I am sure they do it on purpose for a purpose.
And no there is not really a wave of cases, there are very few cases of it ever happening compared to the 1000's of contacts that happen daily

What you hear and see does not describe the whole story.
Cops are human beings, too.
What do you think you would be feeling if you were involved in a foot or vehicle chase with a potentially dangerous criminal suspect, when your life and other lives are possibly in jeopardy? When you catch up to this person, possibly high on drugs, and the person continues to resist and becomes combatant?
How do you feel when somebody cuts you off at the intersection?
While police training attempts to help officers control their emotions, you cant always do it. You cannot tell me that you can control yourself in a situation as described above. Neither can I. Why do you expect another person to be able to, who just happends to be wearing a police uniform?
Two cops got shot in Miami this week. they were simply sitting in their car conducting a surveillance operation. I dont hear a public outcry about "criminal brutality!" against the cops who got shot.

I can't be their judge but it sure does seem to be the case lately! Where I live in just this past month the police have been responsible fore several people dying! An 18 yr old boy was drunk and his mother called the police to help get him settled down... the obliged her by shooting him 8 times! They arrested a man for disorderly conduct, they got him to the ground eye witnesses saw them punch and kick the man repeatedly. He died in the police car. An autopsy showed the man died because 16 of his ribs had been crushed and punctured his lungs! The man was mentally ill, not"criminally insane" I am afraid to be out of my home after midnight.... not afraid of the criminal that might be out there, but afraid of being shot by cops!

I don't worry about it at all. I respect law enforcement and obey the law, therefor I have nothing to fear. Most people who get their a$$es kicked by the police, are rude, abnoxious and just looking to test authority. More Americans should be wondering why cops get murdered for pulling someone over for speeding or an expired license.....9 times out of 10 that is the least of their crimes.

YES, THEY DO!
You'll read posts here from cops denying it, or justifying their brutality saying "only criminals have problems with us."
Such statement is like telling a victim of rape: "You deserved it anyway." It only covers their crimes shifting the fault to the victims.
Cops like to catch the bad guys. On a slow day, they crave adrenalin. They have to rough up someone. A simpe incident easily degenerates into a show of force, because of comments they make that infuriate the citizen, escalating the problem until they get the adrenalin fix.
Why don't we see more penalized, then? Because chiefs do not want headahes, and mayors of towns do not want lawsuits. Internal Affairs will always cover for them. PIGS!

yes they do they are terrorist just like the people who flew the planes . it is funny to me how people say that there are only a few bad apples. yeah right unless you live in black , Mexican or other poor areas you should shut up . 90% of police are either racist stupid , unfair killers ,wife beaters child rapist and the list go on and on . so the next time you make a paper air plane fly it into a police station. or just do a drive -by ....... f the police

Absolutley, Yes they have and do. Being a cop is only a job, the title doesn't determine the person behind the badge. I have personally had experience with a bad cop who did whatever he dam well pleased, which included telling some big whoppers when I tried to fight him in court. Which of course, because he was "An officer of the law", he couldn't have been lying! Our system is so screwed up!
