For me it's doing the least stimulating thing before bed. Reading is better than TV but TV is better than the computer. It also helps if it's cool, quiet and dark. As silly as it sounds, a friend got me to try hot chocolate (rather than alcohol - I'm not a fan of tea) and it actually helps. If my thoughts won't turn off I have a visual technique of spinning a small black disk in my head (like an old 45 record) and it helps stop the constant thinking. Otherwise, every time I start to worry or problem solve before sleep, I make myself change the thought to something else. One thing I cannot do is try to fall asleep because I find that when I'm trying I don't. I find that when I tell myself I have to stay awake, I'm suddenly too tired to remember to do it. Insomnia sucks!! Hope any of these help.

I personally just play my ipod for 15 mins, and my brains starts to shut off while i'm listening, and before it i'm asleep. When i have trouble sleeping, i make my body relax, working on my feet up. Like, feeling my feet relax, then my legs, etc.... it works. Also, you can make your tongue relax, because if you relax your tongue i think the rest of your body relaxs to, but anyways its been proven so try that. Also, you coudl try drinking warm milk, i don't cause i don't like milk. Also, if i can't sleep i read a book for a while, ususally at worse it takes me an hour to get tired. If none of these work, take melotonin pills. Melotonin is the stuff your brain uses to make you naturally tired, my mother and i use this if we can't sleep. Also, take things out of your room that might distract you, like a tv, computer, etc... So yeah, hope something on here helps, good luck!

Well I'm still awake and it is 2:00 AM. But when I decide to hit the sac. I play solitaire &/or Bejewled on my PDA until I cannot keep my eyes open. (It keeps my mind off of any more exciting or stressful thoughts. When my hubby is snoring I do take 1/2 of an ambian.

Reading is also good and relaxation breathing is great. Well I'm going to try some of that now. Good Night.

God Bless you with plesant dreams, ;-)

I use a method of personal relaxation, starting with 5 very deep breaths and then relaxing my body from toes to facial muscles. Usually this method works. If not I then give my brain a very boring task, like making up a dictionary in my head. It is very unusual for me to get beyond a few letters.

You have to leave the problems of the day behind you. remember that you can't do anything about them until morning.
