It recently happened and I am Incomprehensibly furious about it. I was tansporting a beer in my hand to my room on campus when a security officer outside my residence hall (fraternity house) took my beer out of my hand and dumped it out without asking age. When I told them I was 21 they said i was "Labeling/promoting the beer" becaus it was not in a bag/covering aparatus. I think this is BS and I hope someone can help me find out if this is legal for them to do considering there has been an enormous student uprisal at my campus regarding unnecessary campus safety/residential life "enforcement" on federal/state/college law policies regarding alcohol, parties, noise, and local police interaction: in order to help the students take a stand against this current liberal corruption.

BTW the campus officer told me it was a federal law, not a campus law, of which I cannot find anywhere online.

Oh grow up and quit whinning! You are lucky he didn't get you for "drinking in public" or even "public intoxication". All he did was pour out a beer. It is against the law and I have a feeling that you probably acted all cocky with him thinking you had the right to drink it in public. I don't think you will win this argument with anyone since you were drinking.

You can not have an open container ( meaning beer, any alcohol) on any School Campus ,the Campus Police Officers had every right to pour out your beer. It called public intoxication

Here we're giving them wine with a bit of water from the time they can sit at the table. They can drink in the bars by 16 although they have a strict one beer limit. Maybe that is what the FSM will do, they can drink but only with supervision and a cut off limit. Some adults might require this as well, then again its Pastafarian heaven so maybe there are no downsides anymore.

I am not sure about florida laws , but if you were on a school campus than school rules apply . I think that the security officer did overstep his bounds though...even police officers ASK you to pour out your beer in a situation like that. It is B/S but a lot of laws are . From now on bag it - the bag keeps the beer colder and your hand won't get cold!!! And when you see barney fife comming chug your beer and then belch "HELLOOOOOOO" at him!!!!! Party-on dude !!!

Well, no matter how furious you are, as long as it is written down anywhere under your campus's rules and guidelines that promotion of alcoholic drinks is illegal, then they are in the right, given that one of the conditions of living on campus is to abide by the school guidelines/rules. It doesn't matter how BS you think the rules are, if they are there, there's nothing more you can do except to pressure for a change (i.e. continue on with your protest, legally).

was it campus security or campus police.
But yes they can because you are a student and the security at the campus operate within many campus rules,
And most campuses have rules about open containers in public.
So get over it and don't do it again, you are a student going to college and it is not suppose to be a drinking party.
And yes they are tougher on faternity houses always

Sounds like he was low on adrenalin that day and needed to provoke someone.
The ACLU website has a section on civil rights as they appy to students. You may benefit to review them, before you consider filing a grievance... I would, to request a formal inquiry anyhow.
