Grasmere.Windermere the town too.Take a trip on one of the steamers,they do a "round the lake" tour.Great for seeing the area.Both Windermere and Ullswater have these boats.I think the Windermere one is called The Lady of the Lake and the one on Ullswater is The Raven. If you are lucky there is a chocatelier in Windermere called Anns.If the shop is open treat yourself to some handmade chocolates..

Go to Ambelside!
They have Zeffirelli's Restaurant and cafe!
Great Coffee and Good food too!
The Town has Great Delicatessens as well!
The Golden Rule Bar (Great Pub with great Atmosphere-Local and Climbers all together!!).
Spent many a Happy Summer Climing there!
Best Place in the UK!!
Then go and Drive the Kirkston pass to Glenridding (Great drive,Great Views and Lots of altitude!

We went to Grassmere. The car parks were quite expensive so we went down past the boat place and parked on the road.....free! This time of the year take some bread to feed the birds as they are starting to get hungry. Loads of visitors feed them during the summer but there are not so many visitors now and the food supply is not as it was. It's cheaper to take your own bread than to buy the bread there.
