Nothing could be more absurd. Long before these commandments were given there were codes of laws in India and Egypt -- laws against murder, perjury, larceny, adultery and fraud. Such laws are as old as human society; as old as the love of life; as old as industry; as the idea of prosperity; as old as human love.

All of the Ten Commandments that are good were old; all that were new art foolish. If Jehovah had been civilized he would have left out the commandment about keeping the Sabbath, and in its place would have said: "Thou shalt not enslave thy fellow-men." He would have omitted the one about swearing, and said: "The man shall have but one wife, and the woman but one husband." He would have left out the one about graven images, and in its stead would have said: "Thou shalt not wage wars of extermination, and thou shalt not unsheathe the sword except in self-defence."

If Jehovah had been civilized, how much grander the Ten Commandments would have been.

This was written by Robert Green Ingersoll in 1894. He was a great American orator. He couldn't run for office because he would not denounce his atheism.

My computer is more than 2 years old. In about a year, I will need to replace it as it is slowing down. When MAN (not god, we need to be serious) wrote the 10 commandments they may have fit the culture. Now they need to be updated. That is why America is so great, because when it needs a change we amend the constitution. This is the problem with religion. The older it gets, the more it falls apart. The newer versions of the bible were poor attempts to fix this. Over all, religions die from old age. Hopefully, we will soon be advanced enough to not need religion to tell the people what is right. Morals would still exist if "what you should do" was not scratched into an old rock. Morals come from social animal characteristics in an environment separated from nature. This is why humans are more advanced, to the point of 10 commandments not being good enough over long periods of time.

Jehovah originated the Ten Commandments.

Some of the Ten Commandments seem inherent in a normal human conscience, but the human conscience is also a creation of Jehovah God in that humans were made 'in His image'.

(Romans 2:14-15) For whenever people of the nations that do not have law do by nature the things of the law, these people, although not having law, are a law to themselves. 15 They are the very ones who demonstrate the matter of the law to be written in their hearts, while their conscience is bearing witness with them and, between their own thoughts, they are being accused or even excused.

One important thing you need not to forget is that you are talking about the old testament, or what you can call the days of darkness, but if you read the new testament you will see that all what you said and much more of it is there, it is the age of light.

God gave the ten commandments to moses.archaeology sometimes conflicts with bible dating.who are we to question god about whether the ten commandments are sufficient???
does the dog question his master about his food???
YOU SHOULD NOT QUESTION GOD!!!
do you know Jesus Christ died on a cross for you!!!
do you really want to risk being separated from god by not believing in his son???
you need JESUS!!!

There are no Gods.

Actually, the 10 commandments could be vastly improved if you drop the first 5.

God told Moses the COMMANDMENTS and Moses created them/wrote them.

P.S.
God is real so whoever thinks otherwise is wrong.
