Hi there my ucle just had a stroke, leaving him temporarily or maybe even permanantly blind. He wants to get use to doing stuff on his own. What are some things that he could still do? Please give only serious answers. Thank you.

There are many activities that a blind man can do by himself. I had a blind tenant who was blinded through carelessness leading to eye injuries in his 30's. He had his own apartment which he applied for and rented by himself. He took lessons in self sufficiency and in adapting to this lifestyle.
I also had neighbors with low vision and blindness in New York City. This couple had their own apartment and used to take the subway by themselves every weekday and commute to their jobs. They used to get the New York Times large print edition in the mail. They did all the things necessary to maintain an apartment by themselves.

DUDE.....I had a neighbor who is totally blind.....he gets around
ALL BY HIMSELF. But it took him awhile to take the bus, etc.
This guy does EVERYTHING for himself. If he can do it...surely
most people can. He goes grocery shopping ! He's a trip. So, I
KNOW that your uncle can do whatever he wants to, it's up to
him really. Being BLIND is one of the most challenging of some
disabilities. If your born with it, your used to it.....but if you
suddenly become blind.....it is a challenge to overcome.

What I would suggest is that you contact his doctor to give you info on some groups that can help him make the transition. His independence is key to his recovery.

Start learning braille if possible. That way he could still read books to pass time. Hope he's doing better soon.
