In 1978, ABC's Wide World of Sports aired a challenge match between Willie Mosconi and Minnesota Fats. Mosconi had heard enough out of Fats and wanted to show the world what real pool playing was all about. It was one of the highest rated sporting events of the year. I believe that only a few events achieved higher ratings, such as the Super Bowl, World Series, and the Ali Vs. Spinks bout. I know that ESPN Classic aired another match between Mosconi and Fats which took place a few years later ('82 I believe) in Charlie Ursitti's tournament. My question is whether anyone might know where I can find of copy of the '78 match. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

wow, easy enough question, tough answer, but...i would think that the BCA has some kind of archive for video, maybe accustats, or try contacting ESPN or ABC or mother company Disney. Maybe you can work your way through the local ABC affiliate and ask how you might obtain that footage.

Are there any other web site you might have overlooked in your quest to find the "grail"?

That's a good question. I'm Jamaican so I'll give a non biased answer(by that I mean non American or non British answer) I personally think NFL is the better sport because, unlike rugby it takes brains. They pause and break so much to discus strategy and call the play, in rugby all you have to do is run around and even if you get tackled all you have to do is lie there until clock runs out. Also rugby players are not half as good as NFL players when was the last time u saw a rugby player throw a ball 60-yds with pinpoint accuracy, when was the last time u saw a rugby player get hit so hard he blacked out and then returned seconds later and i know there's no rugby player who can 100yds in 8 seconds, HUH. NFL is more intense, it takes mor than just running around like some big jackass(YOU) with a ball in your hands hoping the players are dumb enough to not tackle(then again they are that's why they play rugby). I'm not gonna lie, I think that rugby, like football could be an enjoyable game if you understand it. Also for the international part they have football leagues in Canada,, Mexico(I think, after all they have a Spanish madden), one in Europe, Japan and even Australia. Oh yes, one more thing I don't see rugby having an officially licensed game where game companies pay through the nose to get the liscencse(A.K.A. EA Sports) Also dude, what were you thinking putting this on yahoo answers you're gonna get trashed so much you'll cry
