In some people, yes, this is absolutely true. It can decrease a persons desire/want to have sex and it can also make it more difficult for a person to orgasm...if at all. This is not the case for all people, but it is a very common side effect.

I agree you should look for another doctor. I went on Paxil over a year ago (now trying to go off). I had some side effects, but I went on the medication GRADUALLY, as I hope you are too. I started with a small dose of 5 or 10 mg, and then increased in increments of 5 mg. So it was 5 mg for one week, then 10 mg for a week or so, then 15 mg for a week or so, then 20 mg. which is the strength I've been at since then. If you went from zero to 20 that may explain the severity of side effects. Good luck.

yes, it is very true. I am on paxil. Not only do I have a much lower sex drive but it is nearly impossible to climax. It's almost like it has been numbed.

I have heard that too, but remember everyone takes to meds differently. ALL drugs unfortunatly have side effects. You have to take the good with the bad. If the side effects become bothersome to you it is time for a change, and your doctor should work with you not against you. I know. I took zoloft for 2 weeks and thought I was dying. I was a zombie. He took me off, put me on Lexapro, and hardly any side effects, and the little ones I have outweigh the purpose for me being on this med.
It takes time too. weeks and weeks for side effects to subside to decline and patience is of essence. If it isn't working for you talk with your doc, he can and will change it for you. If he is good at what he does.
Good luck

It can. That is not saying that it does. I have been on it for a few years and it has never bothered me. I know that a few of my friends have taken it or still do and none of them have had any problems. Just remember that any anti-depressant can have side-effects like that. Hope this helps
