My girlfriend and I were having a couple of drinks in my home. Steve and his son knocked on my door and wanted to know if they could come in. We said sure. Two hours later I had to go to the bathroom, I heard Steve say we have to go. I said wait a minute and I will walk you out when I get done. When I woke up in the morning, I called my puppy and he didn't respond. I could roll over or cough and he would want to climb up in bed to be with me. I seen his leg out under neth my bed. I pulled him out and looked at him he was skinny my puppy was plump. This puppy had ear mites and had black markings on the back of his legs, my didn't. There were 5 puppies 2 black and 3 honey color 2 male and 1 female. What Steve did was switched his puppy for mine. Honey is 2 and a half months old I had him for a month. I toke the puppy back to my X boyfriend and told him he switched him out,of course he denize it. Steve is my X boyfriends friend. Steve lives in another town. What can I do? I 'm heartbroken

Look you had a puppy for a whole month WOW...So you said you went to the bathroom and amazingly you lost your dog..You said when you woke up in the morning WOW..then the dog was switched WOW....You lost your puppy....cuz he did not get on your bed....You do not need a dog...you are not ready for a dog or children...you make up a population of very sad people... that think a dog is some kind of symbol to make you look cool ..If you were a good person you should give the the dog up to the humane society...When your dog gets out of the puppy stage you will get rid of him...Fight over something other that a dog with your X...Be kind... let the little doggy have a good life..By the way you are not heartbroken..You should be there for a puppy....SHAME ON YOU...

I can understand how you would be heartbroken about that i would suggest going to steve and telling him to give your dog back or go to the police and tell them what has happened and im sure they would be able to help you..

And take some pictures with as well of your pup if you had any before and they can see..

I would be really upset if that was me but im sure you can get your orginal pup back but if you said that this new pup you got wasnt looked after very good i think that you should find a good home for it and not give it back cause i think it wasnt very good looked after so please do that find a very good home for it or keep it if you want so that your other pup might have a friend that would be great..

This is why it is so important to have your pets implanted with a microchip. This would have enabled you to prove that the pup was yours and you could have called the police. But as it is there isn't much legal recourse you have at this point.I myself am a law enforcement officer and the chances of you proving this case in a court room would very difficult with out witnesses to the incident. My best advise is to keep the pup he switched with you and love it. You never know this could be a blessing in disguise. With the proper love and dedication the pup you ended up with just may make a better dog. "DON'T SELL THE LITTLE GUY SHORT"! Good luck

You could report him to the police,, that is theft. The fact that they left another puppy for you to take care of has no bearing on it, it's theft plain and simple. The cops should be able to recover your original puppy, though i doubt any charges will be filed. You may want to keep this second puppy and treat him as well as the first so he will be healthy and happy too.

think. do you have a vet? Have you taken the puppy to the vet? Do u have a picture of your dog? What evidence do u have that says what particular dog is yours? Think, I know it's upsetting. That's why I HATE anybody in my apartment. Did your dog have a micro-chip inserted? Think, how and what can u do? BE VERY AWARE of others who you do not Totaly trust!

if you got photo of the puppy and proving it is yours you can report him to the police. but you have to have some type of proof or they wont do anything about it.

did you put a microchip in the little pup if so then you can identify the pup is yours

Did you take the puppy to the vet? if you did, then the vet has records of what the dog looks like and weight.
