Okay, I adopted a 7-week-old kitten from some really awful people yesterday. He was covered with fleas when I brought him home last night, so I immediately took him straight to the tiled bathroom and he has not left it since. Obviously cannot use any commercial flea remedies since he is far short of 12 weeks. So far I have rinsed him with a water/white vinegar mix, scrubbed him with Dawn dish soap, applied straight vinegar to his fur with cotton balls, and soaped him up with Dawn dish soap and then rinsed him. The fleas are definitely better, but still there. Does anyone have any other ideas? Also, since he's only been in the bathroom, do I need to worry about fleas in other parts of the house? Thanks!

Yes. You should probably spray around your house to reduce any further infestation.
Try tea tree shampoo - don't get it in it's eyes. Then get them sayed and neutered. (not the cat, the people that had him before you) - second thought, get the cat fixed too.

You can use advantage this is safe to use on your kitten as it does come in a kitten formulation so you are not over dosing your kitten. Report these people that you brought this kitten off straight away to the R.S.P.C.A. If they are letting there kittens get fleas so badly imagine what there mother and father are like. This is, in most case an act of animal crulty. Stop washing your kitten with all those products because it can irritate there poor little skin making it worst. Put your kitten in a shallow amount of water, and get a comb and comb most of the little flea out of the kittens skin, and when doing this make sure you squish the flea to kill it. Wash all the kittens bedding in water and vinagar, and make sure the kitten isn't released back in too its normal inviroment until all the fleas have gone. It wouldn't hurt either to get a flea bomb and do the house one day when your family and the kitten aren't at home because this can take about a full day too do. If any other problems speak to a vet!

Poor little kitty. You did an VERY good thing. Well for starters, remember that fleas can jump on to your clothing or towels. So you may want to consider stripping before you leave the bathroom if they're that bad LOL. The best recommendation I have is to call your vet. I think there is a product on the market......it's kinda hard to find tho, but if you can find it, it will do the trick. It's a flea shampoo made by Adams, and especially made for kittens. It comes in a blue and red bottle. Other than that, I dont' know. But surely your vet would. Good luck with the little baby :)

I took my cat to the vet when he was a kitten and the fleas were so bad he had flea anemia. This killed the other two kittens in a matter of 5 days. The vet had me use rubbing alcohol and cotton balls to slow down the fleas and then I had to use a flea comb or just pick them off. Good Luck

I am pretty sure that Revolution makes kitten flea stuff & that's just deadly to them because we had the same thing with our latest baby - he was a mess when we got him home. I asked the vet & they said that it would be fine - as is Frontline, on the little one. I would spray & hoover the house & wash the towels you're using on the kitten in some flea shampoo then normal wash to kill any that are in there. Best of luck to you both!

First off, yes, the fleas will spread. They are annoying little buggers. Make sure to keep yourself and any other pets bathed constantly, or they will be worse.
Try using a tiny bit of diluted head and shoulders, or baby shampoo. The other things that you tried also work. Dont bathe more than a few times a week or it could mess with its skin. If on a good diet and bathed and loved enough, they will go away.

What you need to do is make an appointment with the vet. This little thing will need to dewormed if it is covered in fleas. Also it should be tested for feline aids & feline leukemia. You can talk to your vet the about what can be used on him, but if I remember right, Fronline can be used on kittens under 12 weeks. Just check with your vet. Also, make an appointment to get him neutered when he is 6 months old!!!!!

if my mother were there she would definitely be able to help.. she's an expert on cats and fleas..i suggest u take her to the vet and ask for some mild cat soap.. and u dont need to worry unless u have other cats coz they tend to accidentally get flea transfer..
