Rigor mortis sets in about 3-4 hours after death and completely dissapates within 36 hours. Environmental conditions have nothing to do with it, it a chemical reaction in the muscle tissue that causes stiffness. And no, it does not make bodies sit up as everyone says it does.

there are several variables to this. depends on where victim died; IE carpet, hard floor in bed. inside or outside the temp in the room or outside. weather the victim was wet. generally about 2-6 hours but if your not trained be careful because rigor will come and then go and then come again so its hard to say need more information.
