I feed my dogs twice a day. They #2 once, maybe twice a day, and #1 about 5 times a day. What you feed a dog will determine how many #2's you get. Low quality foods produce more waste than high quality. My dogs will pee just about everytime they walk outside

Feed your dog an adequate amount of food (by his/her weight and package recommendation) once a day. If you are a little over or under, the dog will let you know. As far as pottying, the dog should be on a schedule or know a designated safe spot to go.
Regular walks will eliminate most problems. If you have a puppy and can't be home you may have a long road ahead of you. Good luck!

Our eskie weighs about 30 pounds and we've always left his food out all day for him, he doesn't eat it all at once. He's FULL of energy, very active, and burns off whatever he eats.
He will grab a mouthful of food from his dish, carry it into the living room (or where ever we are), spit it out all over the floor, then eat it piece by piece. He'll do this until he's had enough, I think he's a social eater. I also give him dry dog biscuits (a few a day).
He marks his territory every chance he gets with whatever business he has to do. It doesn't matter whether I walk him 6 times a day or 12, he can always find something to leave behind.

I just have the dog cereal out for my dog all day. She always has food in her bowl and I give her about 2 - 4 dog cookies every night. She's an athletic dog and never overeats so there's never a problem.
I let her run in the yard a lot during the day and I'd say she has a poo 1 to 2 times a day.

The # of times you feed your dog is dependent on how old & active he/she is. Puppies and younger active dogs need to be fed 2 dailly because they burn more energy and calories during the day by playing with you or each other.( Higher Metabalizm). Older dogs tend to be less active, Thus burning alot less energy and normaly only need to eat 1 time in the AM. All brands of dog food are formulated to suit different dogs according age, energy level and breed(Small/Large). Over feeding an older and or less active dog can lead to canine obiecity and that WILL cause serious health problems for your dog!!

I have four dogs ranging from 15 lbs to 85 lbs.
They eat morning, around 8AM and around 5PM. They are variable in their needs to relieve themselves. One is a 8 yrs. and seems to only need to pee 4 times a day, but he goes forever like he's just a big bladder. The smallest dog is very nervous and seems to have to pee 4-5 times an hour at times, but that has lessened as he's gotten older. I can put him out and tell him to "go pee" and he goes right away unless he doesn't need to. If he is startled outside, he will actually fake by lifting his leg and try to run inside. I can not figure out why, other than nervousness. The others fall in between. The 16 y.o. needs to go in the middle of the night once or twice. They seem to need to defecate about twice a day. That can vary with extra treats or for no reason that I can figure. Dogs can generally be taught to go when you take them to a certain spot if it's at the time they need to go. By watching the dog's behavior, you can fine tune your mutual schedules. The more dogs you have, the more difficult that goal is to achieve.

I feed my dog twice a day -- once in the morning, and once at night -- I think that's pretty standard. As for the "potty"-- probably about two "2"s a day, and as for "1"s, it really depends on water consumption, age of the dog, etc. My dog is 14 and urinates about 7-10 times a day, which is a lot-- but her bladder control isn't very good now. For a younger dog, I'd say on average 5 "1"s a day. It really depends on the dog, food/ water consumption, and age.

Feed twice a day, #2 once a day, don't know how many #1.
melanie_7... is right about the quantity of food determining how many times they will go.
