The only way -- and I mean ONLY way -- that an auction will take the car back is if they cannot deliver a clear title to the vehicle or the title is not as they stated it was.

If they stated that it was a salvage title, you can't return it based on that fact regardless of the condition. If they stated that it was a clean title and the title is marked SALVAGE, you can return it.

There is no right of recission on car sales -- through an auction house, dealer, or private party -- contrary to what another uninformed poster stated.

You could, of course, re-consign the vehicle with the auction house. They'll be happy to do that in most cases. You should get back at least a portion of what you paid. If you're lucky, you'll get nearly all of it back. If you're REALLY lucky, you might even make a few $$$.

Most if not all auctions will never let you return a car. Usually they tell you up front to inspect the car before the auction and all sales are final.

It's going to depend on the state that you purchased the vehicle in, but in almost all cases, especially from an auction, it is "buyer beware". Unless there is a case of fraud such as a modified odometer, or a salvage title that wasn't disclosed, there is usually no way to back out of a purchase from an auction. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

In most states you have a 4 day grace period to change your mind after buying something like a used car. Check your state's regulations. Also, ask about the "lemon law". It's the period of time that you have to return a used car if it doesn't run or if there is something serious wrong with it.
