I am a veteran and spouse of an active duty army soldier who will regretfully deploy on the same month he is supposed to get out of the F@#%#%G army. At any rate...(I dont like the commander in chief very much) you can find support by going to websites like www.armyonesource.com. Or just google a topic like "military*family*support" use the * because that will let the search engine know to narrow the search to the specific topic not the broad ranges of the three different words above if you use something like that. As stated above know your brothers unit, and you can ask him if he can give you a point of contact within the group of people in his unit who are not getting deployed with him (rear detachment or FRG?). The Red Cross is also a GREAT resource if you need to contact your brother in case of a family emergency or if you havent heard from him in an outrageous amount of time too. That is why you should know his unit he is deploying with and ask him what his last four is. He willknow what you mean. That will help the redcross locate him quicker.

The story doesn't make since, and based on what you are saying there are too many things wrong with his story. The military pays extra for spouses and children so that they aer taken care of. If she is not being taken care of by her husband, she needs to give a call to his commanding officer and his CO will take care of the money issue, The bigger issue I have is that Champus, actually ChampVA is supplemental insurance for the dependents of veterans. His family cannot have this if he is still active duty. There is a lot to this story that doesn't make sense, it sounds like one of those Dateline NBC specials. Your neighbors daughter needs to check into what her husband is really up to. Sorry, for the convoluted answer, but this story is very interesting in a morbid sort of way., Hope the info helps.

Most bases have a family support system, also you could try the VA and the Red Cross. Depending on the branch of service, you should be able to locate a family support service at there homepages not the recruiting pages.

What is it you are looking for? Being a sibling will be more difficult for you to find things out....The Military only tells who the Soldier has listed as next of kin what is going on. If he is married, I would keep in touch with his wife.

I Own several Support Groups, just contact me at my address. I am a Prior FRG Co-Leader as well as I can find Information out where others are not able to...

Sorry for all of the dumb answers. Send him a lap top computer and keep in touch. Also the Red Cross, and the base he is stationed at. The company Sargent should be helpful and there is a family group that can give you support.

The chaplain on any military base can help. Depending on what type of help your brother need he can talk to his commanding officer, they are usually pretty helpful. There are also groups for families of deployed soldiers, that's what got me through.

On base/post.

No better place to look. Tell him to go through his command and be specific.

Semper Fi -
9th & 11th Marines
(or whatever branch)

p.s. - if he isnt a special ops type or a marine grunt he stands a 99% chance of being fine.

You are not gonna get it from the Govt of George W Hitler that's for sure. Try the Veterans Administration for advice. Sorry for your brother. I hope he comes back alright.
