A few drops of alcohol, and it doesn't sting.

A cotton tip. Or, with your mouth open, place your wet hand over the ear tightly and the quickly pull it away from the ear. The suction created will pull the water out. Have your ear turned downward.
It may take several tries to get it right.
I just used the hand suction method the other day.

Try a 50/50 mix of vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Drop a few drops into your ear, then lie on that side for a few minutes. The mixture should change the viscosity of the water, and it should drain out fairly quickly.

.......you poor thing.........try this:
lay on the side of your body that the water is trapped in that ear.....and it can trickle out while you sleep.......this tickles a bit.... and is WARM from your body temperature !! And such a relief!!!
.....or.....
take a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol in a dropper and drop in that ear one to two drops .......the isopropyl alcohol in the product helps to dry the water up...
.......but best way of all I do believe.........
Sometimes the water is so trapped in there that sleeping with your head sideways all night won't force it out.... so take a hair dryer and the ear that has the water inside of it try to tilt your head completely sideways to the floor on that side of your body..where your head is COMPLETELY sideways.....then aim the blowdryer at that ear....don't hold so close that you burn your skin, but aim the warm blowing air towards the opening of the ear....and it SHOULD trickle out pretty quickly.......
............or....
if it hurts the ear.and lasts for a few days, you can purchase "Swimmer's Ear" drops at Wal-mart, Meijer, Walgreens, and probably any drugstore....ask the pharmacist....
..if all those fail.......
..and you're in pain, can't hear, or going bonkers.......go see the doctor........!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you feel better..!!!... (you sound so pitiful.....or miserable)
.....Good Luck.......

P.S. I forgot...answerer "8p8a" is right..you feel funny like a drunk Bugs Bunny, but try that with the blow dryer aimed for a second at your ear to warm the water up... and then HOP...HOP...
>>> HOP >>> HOP >>> your way to an empty ear canal....I sound so stupid now . I'm SO tired.....Goodnight, and good luck...

Swimmer's trick... Add more water to your ear and the cohesive property of water will take the water that's already in there with it. The ear canal is curved, and yes you could just wait for the water to drip out or dry out, but if you want it out quicker...

I agree with sleepwalker69.
Lie one side of your head on a pillow and then let it flow out by itself. People say pouring more water will do, but actually that doesn't. The first way is the best way - proven!

8p8a is right.

Please be note that jump on the right foot if you want to get the water out from the right ear, use left foot for the left ear, hand lightly padding on the ear when you hop with your head tilt to the same side.

when i was little my mom would drop a bit of rubbing alcohol in my ear and it seemed to help dry it up -- other than that q-tip and tilting your head to the side....

tilt your ear toward the ground and hop on one foot. my husband told me this and it has worked countless times for my sons. I know it sounds silly, but 3 or 4 jumps usually does the trick.
