I think it's a matter of being used to always doing one more thing, and relaxation seems like we're giving up...the only thing that helps me is if I can listen to my sound soother, the waves, going back and forth and back and forth.. or even my breathing.. just something rhythmic.. otherwise, my mind just won't shut off.. you are not alone.

I dread going to sleep each night because I don't want to miss out on anything, and when i'm asleep I have no control over what happens and it seems like it speeds up time. That's the Last thing I need! It's also a pain to go to sleep when you know there's a 100% chance you will wake up...

hmmm...
this happens to most of us!! its not so uncommon for one to wake up in between deep sleep and find it hard to go back to sleep...its just that the brain is switched on and it will be like waking up after getting the well deserved rest and the recharge needed!! some people drink milk or munch on some snacks and go back to sleep or atleast try to close their eyes....sometimes all one needs is not the hours of sleep but the amount of good sleep, for the body and mind to get that relaxation, rest, relieve itself from stress...and one can get this in just a few hours instead of the whole night!!

Hahaha that's like me now. I'm really tired, and I'm falling asleep on my computer chair.
But I know the second I get offline, and hit my bed, I won't be able to go to sleep for the life of me. I'll just toss and turn, and eventually get back online again or find something else to do, and then the cycle repeats.
I wonder.
Maybe it's just what we THINK we're doing is exciting and fun.. in all reality it's boring our minds, and our minds want something to do.
So we go to bed thinking we're tired, and our minds realize how much stuff there is to do.. so it makes us awake again to find something better to do.
Idk.
lol. just rambling =]

I don't know, but it happens to a lot of us. It may be connected to the reason that when people wake us up by calling us late at night or early in the morning and ask, "Did I wake you?" we feel compelled to lie and say, "No, of course not."

Problems with our feelings (conscious or unconscious) about our relationship with our mother. We used to nod off after a good feed.
