Small dogs go *quick* and don't spend much time at the shelters and they often have a waiting list for the small ones. The shelters are mostly over loaded with large dogs. If you can only have a small one, watch local bulletin boards for Oops litters, and get on the waiting list at your local shelter. Also check around for local dog rescues and find out if there are any small pure breed rescues. The breed rescues tend to make you fill out a pretty detailed adoption form, but there are losts of rescues out there that need homes. Often the little one have problems to work through, but a breed rescue will know the speciall issues with their breed and the dog in rescue.

So sorry but what do you mean donate are you disabled in some way . If this is for a pet you can go to the ASPCA or Humane Society and also there are rescue groups for many small breed dogs. This is a wonderful way to save a life. I rescued my Rottie and she in turn has rescued mine many times Regards, Ricki

I'd suggest making a trip to your local animal shelter and looking for a smaller dog there. Knowing your financial condition, the shelter will probably make arrangements that will be easy for you.
The below website offers very good tips on dog ownership for apartment residents. Good luck.

Try local humane society or dog pound, there are plenty of dogs that you can get for very little money. Might even give to you free of charge. Wishing you the best.

Check out the local humane society near you, they may not donate one to you, due to the fact the required fee is for it's whole check up and vaccinations that it needed. It's not that much. If not, check out another animal shelter. I hope you find a cute one =] Good luck.

Check out your local humane society. Talk to them and have them put you on a want list if they don't have the right dog now. Ours takes in dogs from kill facilities (they're a no-kill. bless 'em) and often get nice small dogs. Good luck!

Check out your newspaper and local pet stores. A lot of times there are people looking for a good home for a dog they can no longer keep!
Good Luck and Best Wishes.

Will you be able to take a dog to the vet when it is sick? Will you be able to supply it with good food? If you can not afford to adopt a dog, how can you afford to care for it if it becomes ill?
