Just give them time. It doesn't take 5 minutes for a cat to become used to each other, just like it doesn't take 5 minutes to really make a real friend. So, what you could do is give them their space, and see. Maybe first put litterbox and food in the room with the newcomer cat. Give it a place with a sunny surrounding, shut te door, and let your new cat adjust to the surrounding first. Then later you could let him/her out so (s)he can explore. Your current cat probably would give the new cat some space. Of course when cats meet others they will most likely hiss or growl. Neutered cats don't usually fight, but if your cats do fight, don't get between them, but drop something loud. It probably would take days, weeks, or even months for your cat to get used to teh other. Just act normal like having a new cat in the house isn't a problem, and maybe your current cat will find it normal too. Who knows? They could even become buds. So good luck. If not, you should know that they weren't meant to be friends, just like people cats don't get along with others. :P

I have three cats, and long story short they all lived together for a few years just fine and then one of them lived somewhere else for a year and a half. And when I brought the third one home again, it took a good two weeks for them to settle down - even though they'd lived together for years before.
So, my initial advice would be to give them some more time, but watch them carefully.

One important thing you didn't mention was the genders of the cats. Sometimes female cats Really don't get along with other female cats - much more so than males/females together or males with each other. My 3 are all male, and they kind of play-fight sometimes - the wrestle around, bite & kick each other, but never really hard, and other times they snuggle up with each other and groom each other and stuff. Female cats are more likely to hurt each other.

Sounds like they are doing pretty well for so soon. At least they are only growling. Keep reassuring all of them that they are loved and wanted and in no time they will work out something between themselves and they will become friends.

time is the best thing. it helps if you give them all equal attention and try getting communal play toys---something with a long string or something that they all can play with at once.

honestly though, it took my one female over a year to fully accept the new older female we rescued. all cats are different and it just takes time. they will eventually get along though---and all the love you can give them will help make the process quicker!!! good luck!

I'd give them more time. It can take cats a couple of months to accept a new addition...and by accept, I mean not hiss at. They may never become buddies.

possibly you are able to shop the cats in a seperate room to consume foodstuff, and then punish the canine whilst he chases them, and then if there's a time he does not chase them advantages him with a cope with. It worked for me.
