I don't believe anything in American History books that tell what happened before I was born. I only believe in the history of America and the world since I've been living. Anything thing before just didn't exist as it did not happen in my short lifetime. Its all made up to make us look good in the eyes of who reads it.
I'm talking about American History books only! Don' wander off into other areas. What do you believe?

When you finish high school, you've learned a lot. When you enter community college, they make you learn the general education courses over again as part of your degree. That don't make sense, do it? You make your own history as nothing's more important than yourself!

Generally speaking, American history books provide an over-all account of what happened and when. However, I have found that our history books in school have been almost totally "cleansed." By this, I mean these books present our history without references to how our ancestors treated minorities. They also overlook many of the blunders our leaders have made in the past. Sadly, these cleansed history books reflect the ethnocentrism that has saturated American society.

Your only real mistake is believing the stuff that happens now. What you see on the news is so highly formulated, calculated, and edited that it's just as fictional as the stuff in the history books. You're correct though, not to believe everything you read. Try reading history from many different perspectives to gain insight into the truth. As if such a thing as truth really exists.

If you are referring to government schools (aka public schools) American History texts books... yeah there are a lot of flat out LIES in them. I believe history is reported inaccurately more often than people choose to realize.
But that doesn't mean the events never took place... well not all of them at least. To have the whole I didn't see it therefore it didn't happen mentality is, well frankly, ignorant.

That's absolutely rediculous. Just because you weren't alive and didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Just ask your parents or grandparents to describe the events of the 20th century. See if they remember what their parents/grandparents said about things that happened in the 19th century. Textbooks have no reason at all to make anything up. There's got to be some things that you've never seen in life but happened while you were alive... do you think they're made up also?

Well, if American History books told you nothing but lies, why the hell would they make state standards and requirements to get into college about a lie?

What makes America what it is is what has happened before. Just because you didn't experience the Civil War doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Those who ignore history are doomed to fall victim to it.

i think to some extent you are justified in thinking the way you do. if you learn american history in foreign countries it is different from what you hear in the united states. in general anglo cultures like to alter things as well. queen victoria was famous for altering the bible we have today called the "king james". even our pledge of allegience has been altered.
