This is happening because you have exhaled all the carbon dioxide from your system by breathing too fast. Once this happens, you feel like you can't catch your breath and so the hyperventilation continues. To get some carbon dioxide back into your blood, blow a bag full of air, then hold it to your mouth and keep rebreathing the air in the bag. Don't breathe any fresh air until the gasping stops. You'll feel much better.

Others have already given you the answers, I just have a suggestion. It's not a cure for a panic disorder, but it is usually a tool that people with panic disorder learn to use in helping to cope.
Meditation. While in a state of mind where panic is not overwhelming, practicing the breathing techniques used in meditation can be very soothing. It is important that this is done when NOT suffering a panic attack. When you reach a point where you seem to be soothed by the breathing techniques when not suffering a panic attack you are ready to try it out when you feel a panic attack coming on. It is important not to use this until you have come to relate the soothing feelings with the breathing technique. It won't solve the problem, but it should help lessen the impact.

You need to see your doctor to see if your diaphragm is working correctly. However, your symptoms coincide with panic disorder. This is very treatable and easily addressed. Try and figure out what your triggers are for the panic by evaluation each panic attack and what happened right before. I'm sending you peace and calmness with this message.

They have these new things called Doctors. Call one, or have your mom or dad call for you.
When there explain to him/her what your symptoms are and when they kick up the most often and what makes them worse than others.
Never lie to your doctor. He/She is there to help you and can't legally tell anyone anything.
Stupidity is the definition of one that goes to the Doctor and doesn't fully disclose all symptoms and/or problems.

please try thinking of something other then breathing or what is stressing you out. If you change your focus, in all likelihood, your anxiety will lower.

This is anxiety. There are medications for it, and there is help. Do see your doctor.
