You got pink-eye (conjunctivitis) because you came into contact with the virus. You probably touched something, such as a doorknob or light switch that had the virus on it, then touched your eyes.
Pink eye is not cause by wearing contacts, but wearing them while you have the virus is not a good idea.
Pink eye is very contagious; you should be washing your hands MANY times a day, and using a clean towel each time you wash your eyes/face to avoid reinfecting your eyes.
It will gradually get better without going to the doctor, but if possible, try to go to a clinic or pharmacy for some eye drops. It will help.
Do not wear your contacts while you have pink eye, and be sure you are soaking them long enough in the disinfection solution---minimu 4 hours, ususally---read the label.

I had pink eye at least 3 times this year. And every time it has been from my contacts. I wake up with this mucus matter in my eye and they are usually really red. You can go to your local Walgreens/Rite Aid/CVS and get some eye wash. I recommend Bausch and Lomb. Wash your eyes out really good. Wear your glasses. Clean your contacts with contact enzyme cleaner. Regular Renu or similar one step contact cleaners wont do the trick. You need the kind that you have to put in the special tube and let sit for 6 hours or more while it sizzles. If you dont have the serious cleaner and you have disposable lenses. Throw away your current pair and open up a new pack.

Dont worry you will be fine =)

I had pink eye and ran out of contacts. I have fairly bad eyesight and I'm nearsited so I'm screwed without glasses. You need to get a perscription to clear up the pink eye which is a 7 day antibiotic. You'll need to get glasses in the meantime. You can't wear contacts while on the perscription, trust me. Sorry, but I'm wearing stupid glasses right now until I can order contacts because I got pink eye myself.

Don't mess around with the pink eye...just ask me!

I went to the doctors last Thursday for pink eye...he gave me some drops for it..It wasn't better a week later, the drops burned, my eye was still swollen, red, hurt, i had a headache, sore throat, didn't feel good, and my eyesight was getting bad in the one eye. SO, then off to the EYE DOCTOR,,the drops that the stupid doctor had given me a week earlier was TOXIC in my system, that is why i was getting sick...HE gave me new drops and within a day, my eye was 50% better, today, 90% better.

Stop wearing your contact and go to your EYE DOCTOR!!!

You can pick up pink eye anywhere...no one else had pink eye in my family and no one in my daycare...i must of picked it up at the HOSPITAL~when i went to go see a friend!! I am a big handwasher..but that didn't stop the pink eye!!

Actually it could be because of your contacts, the girl that said it dosent dosent know what shes talking about...
you can get it from not washing your hands while putting them in. get some eye drops and use those ever so often it will help alot, and goto the doctor if it gets worse, but make sure u steralize your contacts before using them, you may have to change the stuff you soak your contacts in also it probally dosent agree with your eyes since no one is exactly alike we all react diffrently to diffrent things, but if u have glasses wear those until ur eye heals cause your contacts could spread the pink eye and also soak your contacts in the steralizer you use hope you feel better!
oh and keep your hands away from your eyes!!
wash your pillows
and spray lysol in the area your in the most because it's very contagious

it could be but most likely you touched something that a person with pinkeye touched and then rubbed your eyes. conjunctivitis is very contagious. I can get it just by being in the same room with a person who has it. And once I had to be kept quarantined because I had it so bad. Get rid of the contacts they are infected and even if your clean them really good it could come back. I had to boil my contacts. I have to wear glasses now, no more contacts for me. go t the doctors and get medicine.

I got pink eye last week and I don't wear contacts. I think mine was due to allergies at least partly. My 4 year old had an ear infection and my PCP said the same bacteria causes pink eye so I may have gotten it from my daughter. You have keep your hands washed after doctoring your eyes and keep your pillowcases washed until the infection is gone.

Pink eye is a strep infection in your eye. Antibiotic drops will help stop the infection. This is most likely from not washing your hands before handling your contacts. Good luck to you.

"Pink eye" usually refers to an infection of the conjunctiva of the eye, and is usually contageous, but I suppose this kind of inflamation could have another source. A doctor once told me to wash the eyes with a solution of Vitamin C powder and water, several times a day, to cure it.
