Well, by now, if it's still alive, I'm assuming it's just a hairball. This is quite normal, and you will see it many times in the cat's lifetime. Just be patient and they all know how to toss this thing out. Best to wait about an hour before picking it up though, as it can be kind of gross.

She's either hacking up a hairball or she really is choking. If it's the latter, get her to an emergency 24/7 vet right away!

cradle it against your side with your hand on it's chest/belly and briskly smack its back just below the shoulder blades.......be sure the cat is tilted forward slightly while you do this......also, rub its throat and try to help whatever is lodged work its way loose......if this doesn't work, open the cats mouth with your fingers and see if you can visually see anything blocking the airway. if so, you can hold the cats mouth closed and blow not-too-forcefully into its nose....this forces a natural reaction to cough, which may help......good luck.....hurry.....
