The couple of thousand men who lost their lives in the Inquisitions just about balances the couple of thousand innocent women who were hanged or burned as witches by superstitious Protestants. No children were ever involved. Not a good thing in either case, but let's keep it in perspective. Many who committed crimes begged to be tried by the courts of the Inquisition, since they were far more merciful than the civil courts of the time, which would hang a man for stealing a chicken.

There have been no priests charged with actual pedophilia. There have sadly been a small number of priests who have been involved in homosexual acts with adolescent boys. This has involved fewer then 1% of priests, or about the same percentage one would expect in the population at large. The secular press prefers to refer to it as "pedophilia" in order to evoke an emotional response, and in order not to avoid calling negative attention to one of the golden calves it worships - homosexuality.

Pope Pius XII was the uncontested champion of the Jewish people during WWII. He ordered all convents and monasteries to give refuge to Jewish citizens. He hid more than 300 Jews within the Vatican itself. He organized a program of forged baptismal certificates so Jews could pass as Christians. He organized several programs for smuglig Jews out of Germany. The New York Times published two editorials praising him as the only world leader fearlessly crying out against the Nazi war machine. After the War he received numerous commendations and donations from Jewish leaders in gratitude for his efforts on behalf of the Jewish people. The head Rabbi of Rome was so moved and impressed by the actions of the Pope, he ended up converting to Catholicism. All rumors to the contrary are traceable to a 3rd rate off-Broadway play called "The Deputy", which came on the scene a number of years after his death.

Yes, it is true that some Medieval Church leaders, in their great zeal to build fitting places of worship for our Lord and Savior, did place too much emphasis on the connection between graces (indulgences) and monetary contributions, creating the appearance that such graces were actually for sale. Many in the Church recognized this grave problem, and worked to correct it, thereby bringing about a true reformation of the Church from within. Unfortunately, others, in their pride and arrogance, defected from the Church of God and founded their own unauthorized, manmade churches, unleashing upon Christianity a plage of division, fragmentation, false beliefs and doctrinal chaos, in direct violation of the stated will of God Himself, "that they all may be ONE".

No, there were never two Popes at one time. There were a couple of times when there were two claimants to the position, and one time when there were three! However, there was never more than one valid successor to Peter. That is an impossibility. The false claimants were and still are known as "antipopes". If I declare myself President of the United States, and get 50,000 people to back me, does that mean the country has two Presidents?

Anti-Catholic myths are ridiculously easy to refute when you have even a modicum of actual historical knowledge.

God calling pedophiles to the priesthood and then not intervening while they were molesting children. And, for centuries the Catholic Church condemned Homosexuality and then recently admitted that 30-40% of priests are Gay.

Inquisition the torture and killing of men, women and even children.
Vatican protecting paedophile priests.
Working with Nazis.

PaulCyp apologies for the brutalities suffered hardly explains why a church supposed to be from Christ himself could go so wayward. You really think Christ would still stand behind them and brush off their crimes when they were supposed to promote christianity? Very much doubt it. Apostasy had set in and rebuffed what true christendom stands for.
